What will you remember most about this summer?
Rain. Rain. Go. Away.
If you could make a magic wish for a futuristic gadget or high-tech innovation, what would your item do?

Hmmm, yes some sort of "laser sword". It should cut through almost anything, collapse to just the hilt. Maybe it could make funny little whooshing noises when you wave it around. The laser should come in different colors: red, green, blue and purple sound good!
I wonder if anyone has thought of something like that?
We know you never slack off at work, but if you did, what would you do?
Surf the Wookiepedia. Or, yeah, read blogs.
Okay, we hate to ask, but... over the roll or under the roll?
Over the roll. Dur.
What is your favorite ring tone?

I'm particularly envious of Courtney's Late Night with Conan O'Brian ringtone. Although my Office ringtone ain't too shabby either. You can get both at NBC's website.
Interestingly, a rough history of my ringtones:
- "Baby Got Back"
- ??? can't remember
- The recurring theme from Pictures at an Exhibition; the loud part at the end
- A clip from the oh-so classic Erlang video
- "The Office"
What's your ringtone history?
How are you ringing in the New Year tonight?
Hanging out with my lady and our various canine companions.
What were your New Year's resolutions for 2006? How did you do?
Roughly, these were my goals/resolutions
* Money
o Accumulate a nest egg of about $6K
o Accumulate a down payment on a house ~$10K
* Professional
o Finish my book
o Make everything I do at work a success or learn from less-than-success
o Collaborate more. View mailing lists, weblogs and meetings as an MMORPG; constantly seek out XP and level up often
* Personal
o Spend more time volunteering for rescue and feral organizations
o Publish more often
o Perform standup, improv or sketch comedy
* Potpurri
o Stick to making backups
o Stick to an organizational system
I didn't do so bad. I saved about as much money as I wanted to; I ended up buying a house rather than just saving up for one. I didn't quite finish my book, but I have done pretty well in what I did at the job I started in January. I really hit it out of the park on "collaborating" more: the quantity and quality of my communication with other programmers and tech-heads is far better than I could have hoped.
I spent a little bit more time this year helping animal rescue organizations, though I'd like to find a way to help out more. I had meant to write more often, but I think its a push as to whether I succeeded there. I didn't get back into standup or start doing improv like I'd hoped, but I think my USS Ruby sketch definitely counts towards something.
Rounding it out, I did manage to get with regular backups, thanks to Super Duper, though I think switching and/or re-jiggering every two weeks hardly counts to sticking with an organizational system.
What is your pet peeve, the one thing which really drives you mad?

Misspellings, and to a lesser extent, "the red squiggly".
